Exploding Planet

Been working on this one off and on in my spare time. I started with a sphere in ZBrush, and carved it up into multiple subtools.

Then, using Spotlight, I textured each chunk using satellite images of deserts for the outer surface, then rock textures for the interior surfaces.

I used qremesher to down-res the mesh, UV'd the chunks, and moved everything into Modo 601 via GoZ. I added a volume, and a really hot light to the center to illuminate everything. I also used Replicator to scatter smaller chunks of debris around.
